Risks and FAQ
Nothing in these docs or the app is financial advice. Launched tokens are highly speculative and can lose all of their value. Only use money you can afford to lose.
What the rules protect against
- More tokens being minted. Impossible: the supply is fixed.
- Changing the deal after you bought. Fees, the curve, the graduation target, vesting and the fee split can't change.
- Liquidity being pulled at graduation. Unbound's share is locked forever, and the creator's is locked forever or vests slowly on a public schedule.
- Bots buying the first seconds cheaply. Only if the creator turned on the anti-sniper fee.
What they don't protect against
- The price falling. Anyone, the creator included, can sell what they hold at any time.
- Creator unlocks. If the creator chose vested liquidity or an allocation, they receive liquidity or tokens over time after graduation and may sell them. Check the Rules card on the token page.
- Copycats. Anyone can launch a token with any name and picture. Check the mint address.
- Changing names. If the creator kept the name, symbol and image editable, they can change them.
- Software risk. Launches run on Meteora's program and on Solana. Unbound doesn't control either, and no software is free of bugs.
- Tokens aren't reviewed. Unbound doesn't vet who launches or what a token claims to be.
Questions
Does Unbound hold my money? No. Your SOL and tokens stay in your wallet or in the launch's on-chain pool. Every trade is a transaction you approve in your own wallet.
Can Unbound change a token's rules or take its liquidity? No. The rules are written into Meteora's program at launch, and the liquidity locks are enforced by it.
What does Unbound earn? Part of every trading fee (at least 20% of what's left after Meteora's 20%, plus a referral cut on trades made in the app), 0.009 SOL of each launch fee, and the fees of its locked 20% of each graduated pool. Nothing from the money raised.
Why did my trade fail? Usually the price moved more than your max slippage, you didn't have enough SOL for the trade plus fees, or the curve completed just before your trade. Failed trades cost only the network fee.
Do I need to provide liquidity to launch? No. The curve is the liquidity until graduation, and the money it raises becomes the graduated pool.
Can I launch a token that trades against USDC? Yes, or against another standard Solana token. The launch fee is still paid in SOL.
How long until a token graduates? That depends only on how much people buy. Some never do.
Where does a token trade after graduation? In its Meteora pool, on Meteora or apps such as Jupiter.
